Rollicking Rock: “Filthy/Gorgeous” by Scissor Sisters

Funny is in the eye of the beholder, but I find songs like these to be a riot.
Scissor Sisters

The Scissors Sisters was an American band who couldn’t get arrested here and instead made it big overseas. Their first album hit No. 1 in the U.K. and produced five top-five singles there, with this song being the last.

If you haven’t heard the album, get it. “Take Your Mama” is a great take on Elton John-esque boogie, while “Comfortably Number” is a remarkable Pink Floyd cover. Then there’s “Tits on the Radio” in the tradition of “Filthy/Gorgeous”.

Here are some of the lyrics: “You’re filthy and gorgeous, you’re disgusting and you’re nasty”. Well, you have to hear it. Here’s a live version, featuring great interplay between vocalists Jake Shears and Ana Mantronic.
