Is this for real? Drag Race in the UK? Yes! I remember drag as being quite different across the pond, at least from my limited experience. I was in a club in London in the ’80s and a drag queen was emceeing; he was quite frumpy with hilarious quips and that’s what I got to think of British drag, more like Dame Edna than Monet X Change. But from the looks of the contestants in the sneak peek below, they can match what the American queens are doing, and then some.
This will premiere in October on BBC Three; despite this channel being online only, this is a coup for Drag Race in going international. Okay, there was the Thai version, but no one’s seen that. All in all, great for a show that had humble beginnings filming out of a cardboard box in a back alley off Hollywood Boulevard. Cheeky.
